Thinking and execution partner for founder-led businesses

The right-hand person you didn't know you could have.

Two paths, depending on where you are.

Most people land in one of these. If you're not sure which, the right path is whichever sounds more like your week.

If you're a solo operator

You're brilliant at your craft, and completely drowning in everything else.

Most people start with a Detangle. Ninety minutes, one tangle, one clear plan. Some leave with what they came for. Most keep going.

From there, the work usually shapes itself around what you actually need. Twice-monthly thinking sessions to keep the important stuff moving. Or deeper operating partnership when the business is ready for someone in it with you.

  • Detangle 90-minute working session. One tangle in, one clear plan out.
    £295
  • Thinking Partner Twice-monthly sessions. An external brain on retainer.
    From £500/mo
  • Operating Partner Deeper partnership. Thinking and doing, together.
    From £1,650/mo

If you've got a team

Strategy is clear in your head, fragmented everywhere else.

If you've got a team, the work looks different. I come in as Fractional Chief of Staff, embedded in the operating layer of the business. The shape depends on what you actually need: running the operating rhythm, holding the team to follow-through, driving the cross-functional work nobody owns, acting as your strategic right hand on the calls that matter.

I've done this work at scale. Scaling the foundations of Tumelo through the Series A raise, building the People narrative for the investor deck and growing 250% post-funding. Before that, I led internal communications at Booking.com through the Rentalcars merger, where one day the company was 700 people and almost overnight it was 16,000.

  • Embedded CoS Ongoing fractional partnership. Three-month minimum.
    From £4K/mo
  • Project Sprint Defined piece of work. Scoped together.
    From £5K

What the work actually involves.

Same role at heart. Different shape, depending on who's around the table with you.

For solo founders

Solo Founder Co-Pilot

For solo operators building something significant, on their own, but not alone.

Best when you're carrying the whole business in your head and you need a strategic right-hand who can think alongside you, not just execute.

  • A second brain. Somewhere to offload, pressure-test, and sense-check without explaining yourself from scratch each time.
  • Strategic accountability. A regular partner holding you to the work that actually moves the business, not just the work that feels urgent.
  • Calmer thinking. The nervous-system effect clients name unprompted. Less reactive, more deliberate.
  • Execution support. Where useful, I take work off your plate. As a thinking partner who gets it done.
  • Proper partnership. Someone in it with you. Not a coach. Not a consultant. A teammate.
For early-stage teams

Fractional Chief of Staff

For founder-led teams who need senior operating thinking inside the business.

Best when you have a small team, ambitious plans, and the strain is showing in alignment, decision-making, or operating cadence. I've built the operating systems inside two scaling tech startups (post-Series A fintech and seed cybersecurity) through fundraising, rapid headcount scaling, major pivots and the operational growing pains that come with all of it. I know what success looks like from the inside.

  • Leadership alignment. A weekly cadence that keeps founders and team leads pulling in the same direction.
  • Decision velocity. Fewer things stuck in the founder's head, more things moving on the team's plate.
  • Operating rhythm. The connective tissue (planning cycles, comms, prioritisation) that lets a small team execute like a bigger one.
  • Org & people lens. Twenty years of scaling teams brought to bear on hiring, structure, and culture before they crack.
  • Founder protection. Someone trusted who handles the things only an embedded operator can, so you can focus on the work only you can do.
"The magical combination of strategic thinking and practical application that business owners need to turn ideas into action. She easily provides 10x value in every interaction."

A few highlights.

Twenty years inside teams that scaled fast. Here are some of the moments that taught me the most.

2025: Launched my solo practice as an independent operating partner, evolving from leadership consultancy work into the embedded fractional partnerships I do today.

2024: Joined cybersecurity startup Secfix as Head of People, boosted eNPS by +18 points and launched Glassdoor with 5* reviews within six months.

2021–24: Scaled Tumelo through a Seed to Series A 4x headcount growth, building the infrastructure underneath it. Values, feedback culture, learning programmes, career frameworks, salary benchmarking, communications rhythm, the office. The full operating system that makes fast growth sustainable rather than chaotic.

2019–20: Designed and ran 50+ events a year for Booking.com's 2,500-person Transport Unit, including executive leadership events in Barcelona, Amsterdam and Bangkok.

2016–19: Led internal communications through Rentalcars.com's merger with Booking.com, taking comms strategy across 700 to 16,000 people.

2010–14: Executive operations at BBC Worldwide and Sony Pictures Television. Where I learned how senior leadership actually works behind the curtain.

I'm Laura.

Building the businesses behind brilliant people is my jam.

Laura Cloherty

I'm a pattern-recogniser with a builder's twitch. I see the shape of what's broken before most people do, and I can't just diagnose it and leave. I need to stay and fix it.

My sweet spot is the middle. Founders who've built enough to feel the strain but aren't so big that nothing can move. Enough of a system to read, enough room to actually change it.

What I tend to spot that's harder to see from the inside: where the problem actually lives versus where it looks like it lives. The decision that's been circling for months. The thing that feels like a strategy issue but just needs the next step made concrete.

I'm also a people person in the most practical sense. I read rooms, make people feel genuinely heard, and turn that into teams that pull in the same direction. Real culture, not just a values slide.

In practice I'm the person who gets it before you finish the sentence, tells you the truth without making it a verdict, and actually does the thing.

I live in South Wales with my husband and two kids, usually trying to remember where I put my coffee.

What makes me uniquely Laura.

The things clients name, unprompted, when asked what working with me is actually like.

Chaos to structure

Turning half-formed ideas, transcripts and noise into something clear, structured, and usable.

You'll feel calmer

Three different clients, unprompted, used the phrase "calm nervous system" after working together.

Strategic + practical

The rare combination of zoomed-out thinking and zoomed-in execution. In one brain.

I stay

Clients describe me as a teammate, not a service provider. "In it with them" is the staying part.

What clients actually say.

What working together feels like, in their own words.
